How we tested the apps

To make a fair comparison, we organized two parallel events: a wedding with 80 guests and a 40th birthday party with 45 guests. Half of the wedding used Fotify and half Joynify; the same for the 40th birthday party. After each event, we collected quantitative data (number of uploaded photos, number of unique uploaders, percentage of moderated photos) and qualitative interviews with both hosts and guests.

What the data showed

• Number of uploads per guest: Joynify had an average of 4.7 photos/guest, Fotify 4.2. The difference is small, but is due to Joynify's live wall and reactions encouraging recurring uploads throughout the evening.
• Percentage of guests who uploaded at least one photo: Joynify 71%, Fotify 68%. Both are well above hashtag-Instagram, which usually lands around 30%.

An underrated aspect of photo sharing is moderation. With 80 guests taking photos all evening, it's inevitable that some photos will be blurry, compromising, or simply not relevant. This is where the apps differ:
